Cooling Refrigerants of the Future.

A refrigerant is a liquid that is stored in your AC coils, which help cool and dehumidify the indoor air. Without refrigerants, air conditioning would not be possible. For years, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be legal to produce as a result of its damage to the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo decrease environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now designed to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and is free of chlorine, making it ozone-friendly. You can feel good about using this refrigerant in Abilene because it’ll help make your AC work efficiently, reliably and quietly, and deliver the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was made before 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You might investigate upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is totally phased out. The old refrigerant will become hard to find in the next few years, costing you more to run your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Abilene Air-Tech Inc work with R-410A, so you can be sure we have an AC or heat pump that better meets your needs. Additionally, avoid”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
